Pop-up style Greens on the Terrace Dinner
An exclusive performance from N.C. bluegrass duo Chatham Rabbits accompanies the five-course, locally sourced vegetarian menu prepared by the award-winning Fairview Dining Room culinary team
DURHAM, N.C. (June 8, 2023) – Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club, a AAA Four Diamond hotel property located on Duke University’s campus, invites guests to take in the sights, sounds and flavors of the summer season at the pop-up style Greens on the Terrace dinner. This elegant, one-night-only, outdoor dining experience will be hosted on the Washington Duke Inn’s Terrace on the Green on Tuesday, June 20 from 6-8:30 p.m.
Inspired by the bounty of local produce and purveyors, Area Executive Chef Troy Stauffer and the award-winning, AAA Four Diamond Fairview Dining Room culinary team are preparing an inventive and inviting, five-course vegetarian menu that sources 95% of fruits and vegetables from Lyon Farms, a fifth-generation, family-owned farm in Creedmoor, North Carolina.
Greens on the Terrace attendees will gather at 6 p.m. for a featured cocktail in the study of the Inn’s Bull Durham Bar before transitioning outdoors to the Terrace on the Green. Guests are seated family style at a long, farm table overlooking the sweeping views of the Duke University Golf Club and the surrounding Duke Forest. Alongside each course, guests are served a selection of ciders and wines, including a pairing from the South’s only natural cidery, Botanist and Barrel. The creative and colorful, immersive meal concludes as the sun begins to set around 8:30 p.m.
To round out the intimate dining experience, guests will enjoy the warmth of a special musical performance from Chatham Rabbits’ Austin and Sarah McCombie. The husband-and-wife bluegrass duo blend their personal histories through deft songwriting and a history that comes from building a life together. The North Carolina artists are featured in the limited series streaming on PBS, “On the Road with Chatham Rabbits” and have earned praise from Garden & Gun, American Songwriter and more.
Chef Stauffer, who was recently named to Restaurant Hospitality’s Chef Power List, looks forward to showcasing what the Piedmont region has to offer, showcasing items from other local vendors, including micro greens and garnishes from Pittsboro’s East Branch Ginger, specialty cheeses from Cedar Grove’s Boxcarr Handmade Cheese, and gourmet mushrooms from Triangle-based Fox Farm & Forage.
Seating is limited for this event and a maximum of two (2) tickets per order are available on a first-come basis. Tickets are $250*, including service charge and sales tax, with Eventbrite fees processed separately at checkout. Sales open Friday, June 9, at 9 a.m. Eastern Time via Eventbrite.
*Tickets are non-refundable. Due to the pop-up nature of the meal, the Inn is not able to accommodate dietary restrictions and/or preferences. In the event of inclement weather, the dining experience will transition indoors.
